  1. This can be difficult to answer and it depends on you more than anything. I think the most important thing is to go into sessions without a big goal in mind. Just try to enjoy whatever happens. I found that abstaining completely from porn/masturbation early on put more pressure on having a prostate orgasm to “make it worth it”. I had some nice feelings but in the end didn’t really find what I wanted. It wasn’t until I had my first decent experience that I became aware of just how good it could feel, and that gave me some new perspective. I don’t think that abstaining is some secret solution to getting a prostate orgasm. It’s not like with jacking off where you build up this sexual energy and at some point the smallest stimulation sets you off, it’s completely different. My first super-o came in the afternoon on a day when I had jerked to completion with the aneros in earlier that morning (something most vets will tell you not to do).

Lately I’ve hit a bit of a lul, hadn’t really had many great sessions. So I decided to take a day or two off and reduce how much I masturbate. Not to the point of abstaining, but just so that I wasn’t constantly drained. Today I had a great session, no super-o but two nice mini/p-orgasms.

Figure out what works for you. The idea of “is it worth it” and whether it is a waste of your time is probably not the line of thinking you want to go down. This is a long journey that gets better with time, there is no wasting, only learning more about yourself.

  2. If you feel like it’s a worthy experiment, then by all means try it. There’s a *long* learning curve involved with this. There are many sensations to become aware of.

For example, if you have an aneros session after a long period of abstaining, and you notice something feels different, then that’s a win.

I don’t think you *need* to abstain to achieve success, but you *do* need to learn about your body and experience a range of different sensations. Maybe abstaining will put you in touch with something new… it’s all good.
