I kind of backed-into this “NoFap*” thing by wanting to extend my semen retention run (SR) and eliminate the dreaded “blue-balls”. I also wanted to experience another wet dream. It all seems to be working. Let me explain…..
I am currently at Day 11 of SR and not feeling any blue balls. Yes, I should have had them by now and that usually meant that I would have a strong need to ejaculate. I am getting close to that time (Day 12) when I experienced my last wet dream and I am looking forward to another one any day now.
NoFap Technique (So-called Hard Mode or “Monkmode” (No PMO, no sex, no stimulating media at all. That generally means cutting out all social media, most tv, movies, video games, whatever else might convey sexualized or suggestive material)).
There are a couple of things which I am doing differently in NoFap that I haven’t done before. They include the PMO* rules:
• No porn. This is a critical component of NoFap PMO*. Absolutely no viewing, “teasing”, “sneaking” or even thinking about porn is allowed at any time.
• No masturbation (including edging) at any time. This one is harder than it looks. It includes NO TOUCHING (except for normal hygiene). For me, this also includes any form of touching my cock/balls/package through my jeans. While showering, it includes no playing-around with the slippery soap “down-there”. Anything that can cause me to precum may induce blue-balls and trigger masturbation and ejaculation and so it should be avoided.
• No orgasm (except for a wet dream). This is a TO (usually caused by masturbation).
NoFap Technique (So-called Easy or Normal Mode)
• Again, no porn, no self-masturbation and no self-orgasm (ejaculation).
• Handjobs ARE allowed if they are performed by another person. This can include finishing-off with a TO.
• Sexual intercourse (your choice of partner) IS allowed and can include finishing with a TO.
• Wet dreams ARE allowed since they are outside of your direct control.
NoFap Technique and Prostate Massage
I have been unable to ascertain whether this is allowed within NoFap. However, I am going to include it in my technique since prostate health is so important for males, particularly those practicing semen retention. So I’ll continue the practice. Just this morning, I had a nice 20-minute massage with my HIH 950.
NoFap Technique and Binaural Beats
While binaural beats can be very relaxing and soothing, those that induce HFOs should be eliminated. These are design to be sexually stimulating and usually yield some precum. Thus, there will be a propensity for blue-balls with such activity and I will eliminate it from my routine.
Additional Techniques and Benefits
I have noticed recently that when going to sleep at night, I usually now do not wear a “chastity cup”. I am in fact sleeping a good 7-8 hours straight-through and wake-up with morning wood. I assume I am experiencing the NPTs throughout the night but they don’t seem to wake me now. At that point, with a morning erection, since I would be strongly tempted to touch my erect cock and firm balls, I then will select a cup and put it on, thereby preventing me from masturbating. Staying true to NoFap as well! It works!!
Where Am I Going Next with NoFap?
I have read that practitioners of NoFap will undergo a so-called “Flatline*” period where their sexual response to stimuli essentially goes flat. It can be perplexing and disturbing but it is a normal part of the NoFap rewiring process. Will I experience it? Hard to say, but if I do, I can say that I will be prepared for it. It usually doesn’t last that long (perhaps days to weeks) and will be another “hurdle” of NoFap to clear. This is all about brain sexual chemistry and the male sexual response caused by excessive porn stimulation followed by masturbation and ejaculation.
Would I Recommend NoFap?
In my case, NoFap definitely seems to be a logical step above semen retention (SR), particularly with respect to blue-balls and wet dreams. After all, my experiences with SR grew out of a desire for self-imposed male chastity and so, IMO, NoFap is a logical extension of that practice.

Blue Petal: Female equivalent of blue balls.
Chaser Effect: The super-charged desire to masturbate that sometimes hits 1-3 days after sexual acts. Especially powerful early on in a reboot
DE: Delayed ejaculation
Death Grip: The tight-fisted grip on the penis many men develop by masturbating. Because it is much more constricted than the grip of an actual vagina, the death grip overstimulates the penis, reduces pleasure in the long run, and can make it difficult or impossible to orgasm with a woman.
Death Schlick: Women have their own version of the death grip, the Death Schlick — stimulating the clitoris very rapidly and energetically — which can have the same effects.
DE: Delayed ejaculation – can include inability to orgasm during intercourse (if severe enough)
ED: Erectile dysfunction – inability to maintain an erection during intercourse
Edging: Traditionally, this described masturbating to the brink of orgasm and stopping right before “going over the edge.” This could be repeated over and over, usually in conjunction with pornography. Some rebooters have tried this in a misguided attempt to rationalize pornography usage (“well, it doesn’t count if I didn’t orgasm!”). Now it is used more generally to describe masturbation without orgasm. If you are adhering to NoFap’s Normal or Hard Mode rebooting programs, edging is usually considered a reset.
Fapstronaut: A NoFap® user
Femstronaut: A female NoFap® user
Flatlining: Many NoFap® users report one or more periods of zero libido during their streak, especially in the 2-6 week period. Transitioning from an overexcited, always-eager libido to none at all can be disconcerting and even scary for the experienced masturbator, but many Fapstronauts report that it is only a phase in the reboot and will pass.
Hard Mode: Rebooting without any sexual release (even via a partner)

PE: Premature ejaculation
PIED: Porn-induced erectile dysfunction. Through years of using porn, male users might discover that they are unable to achieve or maintain an erection without the use of porn or porn fantasy. This is very detrimental to real-world sexual encounters and could strain relationships. The cure to PIED is rebooting.
PIV: Penis in vagina (sexual intercourse)
PMO: Porn/Masturbation/Orgasm. They come together like a Happy Meal and the toy.
PSUB: Also known as P-SUBs, or porn substitutes, are considered undesirable replacements to using pornography. Examples might include excessive use of dating websites, looking at clothed images of models, or even cruising social media websites for pictures. The intention is what matters the most. Using these things are great in many contexts, but many of our users prefer to avoid the “pornification” of seemingly non-pornographic material.
PVO: Porn / Vibrator / Orgasm
Reboot: Also called “rebooting.” The process of restoring your brain to “factory defaults.” Verb meaning abstinence from sexual behaviors, namely the use of porn, but often also masturbation and sex. Said to take 90 days or longer, by anecdotal reports.
Relapse: For addicts, the act of returning to bad habits after a period of improvement. This is a serious word. Examples would include masturbating to porn (for a porn addict), significantly disrupting your life due to excessive masturbation (going on a 20x binge and skipping work), risky masturbation (masturbating in public), and other similarly life-disrupting activities due to an addiction.
Reset: Failing one of our programs/challenge. This stemmed from the act of resetting your day counter badge back to day one. If your masturbate during your rebooting program, this could be called a reset.
Retention: Practicing retention involves going for longer periods of time without sexual release, beyond the goal of addiction recovery. The general idea is to apply the time and energy from sexuality into other areas of life. Retention is a gender-neutral word stemming from semen retention which has existed for many years and has been popularized by various celebrities who practiced it.
Schlicking: Internet slang for female masturbation.
SO: Significant other. Could refer to a girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, or wife.
The Surge: The period 5-14 days after the start of a streak that often features a physically recognizable surge in energy and sexual drive, which seems to potentially be associated with the rebooting-induced testosterone “surge.” This doesn’t occur in all reboots.
