White marks on silicone after using coconut oil

I have an aneros helix syn with the black silicone material. It seems the coconut oil is really difficult to wash off as, despite my scrubbing, crystallised coconut oil appears on it the next day, leaving these white dots. Even after washing you can see areas where the oil has stained it. I usually wash it with Lovehoney toy cleaner after use. I have tried leaving it (after normal cleaning) in boiling water for 10 minutes followed by scrubbing with dish soap and even that didn’t remove it all.

Also it’s mainly on the arms and the thin part of the stem. The top 3/4 of the stem, the largest part, never gets this problem which I suspect is due to the coconut oil rubbing off inside more than it does on the lower parts.

I think the oil has seeped into the slightly porous silicone.

It’s not the end of the world as I can just wash the crystals off before use but if anyone knows how to stop this for good then please do let me know.

  1. Mine doesn’t do this. I use coconut oil. Something is strange here.

  2. I also use coconut oil and have never had that problem. And I normally just clean up toys just with soap and hot water. Maybe your product has an additive that could be doing it, or perhaps that’s just the way it’s processed/refined. Silicone is pretty tough stuff, hard to mess up chemically (except with silicone lubes), so your toy most likely hasn’t sustained any permanent damage, except the slight discoloration. Also I’m not sure that the arms of the toy are silicone, they seem more like a plastic, so could perhaps they absorb chemicals more easily.

Bottom line, I suggest you try another brand of coconut oil. Good luck!

  3. I use coconut oil and I have the same aneros and I don’t have a problem with it. Maybe the type of coconut oil you are using is the problem or your particular aneros is defective. How many times have you used the coconut oil with the aneros? I’ve only used mine with coconut oil twice, so that could also be the reason I don’t have your issues.

When cleaning the toy, I just use liquid hand soap and warm water.
