  1. Please don’t use hand lotion for lube with anal play. Go to the store and buy some natural coconut oil. This will work much better and you don’t need to be embarrassed buying it. It’s for cooking right ? 😉

  2. I’mma be honest, I used to use body lotion too, even that kind of aloe gel used for sunburns.

I didn’t die nor I think I’ve got any secondary reactions ..? lol (that was years ago when I first started) but it’s not recommended.

Not gonna judge, using natural oils such as coconut and avocado seems the most appropriate since “they’re natural” but precisely because of this natural-ness, anything that is edible tends to go bad, expire, so you need to be very cleanly with that kind of stuff inside your body too. Besides you also have to consider where you’re gonna store it, so it doesn’t go bad due the temperature, etc.

For me there’s nothing better than water-based jelly lube. I know it’s embarrassing to buy that kind of stuff, and when you have snoopy parents or siblings it can be dangerous too, but you can hide it in a box or under your bed, or somewhere that is very difficult to reach. Generic Target or Walmart brands always do the trick.

There’s also an oil, which is like baby oil but odorless, which is advertised precisely for anal use, for things like enemas or suppositories, but I don’t think that’s compatible with many toys (but it’s great for finger play)

About the embarrassment of going to the store, the clerks don’t really care about it tbh, they won’t ask questions nor will smirk or do anything that happens on movies. It’s just the fear of the first time, then you’ll do it naturally, like buying condoms. But there’s always the option to buy it online.

  3. In simple terms, buying lube is a perfectly acceptable thing to do and anyone who passes judgement on you for it is wrong. I understand the stigma from peers when you’re younger, but they’re all probably hiding things they’re embarrassed of as well. If you’re spotted by someone you’re trying to avoid, who’s to say you wouldn’t be inspiring confidence instead of judgement? Wouldn’t you be more embarrassed if you practice anal play improperly and end up getting yourself into a situation where you need to divulge information in great detail to family or doctors. I’m not saying lotion will land you in the hospital, but I am an advocate of using the right, safe tools.

Do you think this is something you could use as an exercise to work on feeling less self conscious about things? It won’t be easy, at first, but practice makes perfect!

  4. Hey man, another thought for you now i’ve read your other responses and get a bit more about why you don’t want to go a grocery or big box store for the lube.

Have you tried a sex shop? Trust me, the folks in those stores really do not care AT ALL about what you buy. they’ve seen it all (Trust me, i’ve bought dildos, cock rings, vibes, masturbators, lube, clamps, you name it, and never an eyebrow has been raised…LOL).

AND, if you run into someone you know there, well then, what the hell are they doing there too? Could be the start of a beautiful friendship!

    😉

EDIT: the staff are also, usually, really helpful and know their stuff. It’s not embarrassing at all. It’s sex. It’s awesome!
